Dr Bruce Farnsworth is a Consultant
Gynaecologist and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon at the Centre
for Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Sydney Adventist Hospital, Wahroonga,
Sydney, Australia.
Dr Farnsworth also operates at Prince of Wales
Private Hospital, Randwick, Westmead Private Hospital, and at hospitals on the
New South Wales North Coast. Each year on 3-4 occasions Dr Farnsworth conducts
special clinics and operates at Hesperia Hospital, Modena in Northern Italy.

Dr Farnsworth trained at Sydney University where he graduated in 1981. He
undertook his internship at Westmead Hospital Sydney where he worked with
Professor Miles Little and Professor Peter Castaldi. Prior to undertaking
Specialist training as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Farnsworth worked as
a resident and Registrar in Urology whilst working in the Department of Surgery
at Blacktown and Westmead Hospitals. He then undertook specialist training with
the Western Sydney O & G Training scheme between 1984 and 1987 when he
passed his specialist examinations. In 1988 Dr Farnsworth travelled to the U.K.
and worked as a Senior Registrar at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, where he
was trained in Urodynamics by Mr Clifford Moisey in surgery by Mr Walter Pollard
and vaginal ultrasonography by Dr Martin Quinn. In 1989 he returned to Australia
and set up a specialist urodynamics and gynaecology practice on the Mid North
Coast of New South Wales, Australia.
In 1997 Dr Farnsworth travelled to Perth where he underwent post graduate
training in the new techniques using synthetic slings and mesh tapes developed
by Professor Peter Petros and Professor Ulf Ulmsten. During 1998 and 1999 he
introduced these techniques into his practice and began to specialise in
Reconstructive Surgery, prolapse and incontinence.
During 2000 and 2001 Dr Farnsworth was invited to travel widely around the
world to teach surgery with slings and mesh techniques where he was able to
learn from the past experience of a number of expert surgeons in this area. At
the same time the Centre for Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery was opened at Sydney
Adventist Hospital and a multidisciplinary service was developed with a number
of colleagues.
Dr Farnsworth has developed a Post Graduate Training program which enables
surgeons to travel to Sydney from around the world and attend hands on
workshops. This program involves training in a number of new techniques. Further
